Soaring temperatures and wildfires in California are causing produce shortages.
We are currently facing severe supply issues on strawberries. Due to the heavy rains and cold weather
experienced in the Santa Maria and Oxnard growing areas, all demand has shifted to Mexico and Florida which
do not have adequate supply to keep up. Harvest has been very slow and the weather has had an adverse effect
on quality. All shippers are holding to averages to distribute the very limited supply.
The current market is rising as shippers are finally getting into the fields to see the extent of the rain damage.
The supply issues are expected to continue for the next two to three weeks but could push into January.
