Port Strike May Affect Product Availability

Port strike expected to affect supply of pineapples, bananas, beans and asparagus.

Port Strike May Affect Product Availability

We're sure you've seen the headlines. Earlier this week, the International Longshoremen’s Association contract expired, and the union went on strike for the first time since 1977. The strike is currently affecting 36 major cargo ports from Maine to Texas, halting the flow of a wide variety of goods over the docks.

Produce Delays: The biggest impact we foresee will be on imported produce items, including pineapples, bananas, beans, and asparagus. Interruptions and delays are possible. Our suppliers are working to use alternate ports of entry, but this shift could cause delays and create more demand for transportation out of Mexico and the West Coast, affecting transit times and freight availability.

Specialty Availability: We are closely monitoring inventory across the CW network and will do our best to keep all markets in stock as long as possible but it will ultimately depend on the length of the strike.

Substitutions: When possible, we will offer suggested product substitutions to help fill any gaps caused by supply disruptions. Please let us know if there are specific items that can't be subbed.

Communication:  Our team will communicate with you directly if your order is affected by any delays or substitutions.
We are closely monitoring the situation and will update you as soon as more information becomes available.

We are committed to supporting you during this challenging time and ensuring the least possible disruption to your operations.
