Grapes are expected to gap in supply in early November.
UPDATE: Iceberg and Romaine are seeing lower yields in the Salinas Valley. Fields are up to 1-2 weeks behind with some suppliers due to the winter rains and recent cooler temperatures. Lighter weights, Sclerotinia, internal burn and slow growth are causing lower yields.
Weather is forecasted to start warming up slightly later this week, hoping this will help push growth and fields forward.
Expectations: Current iceberg fields are producing lighter weights. Some suppliers are seeing weights as low as 34lbs. Suppliers are watching #s this week due to the lighter supplies. Markets are going up across all suppliers due to the lower yields.
