Market Update:  Bell Peppers

Bell peppers have gone into a demand exceeds supply situation, especially on red and gold bells.  California has experienced extreme heat over the last few weeks and has hurt supplies greatly.  Shippers are picking and packing as fast as they are able to keep up with demand.  That being said, we are going to see some quality defects on peppers.  Sizing, scars, blisters, and discoloration are all defects that we should expect to see. 

We have also seen a big increase on pricing due to the supply issue. Growers are expecting the issues to last for the next couple of weeks.
